SENIOR CRICKET PROGRAM

Blackburn South has a team for senior players of all abilities. We field five senior teams in the Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association, with our 1XI playing in the second highest grade of Wilson Shield.

We train as a club on a Tuesday and Thursday night from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Every Thursday we hold a dinner in the clubrooms. Matches are held from 1pm-6pm each Saturday.

At Blackburn South Cricket Club we are one club, with our focus on development of all players in every team.

Our Teams

1XI

Play in the strong Wilson Shield and enjoy playing hard, fair and for each other! We are proud that many of our current 1XI players have progressed from U10 together, are now in their late 20’s and have developed a strong synergy. We encourage and support our junior cricketers to progress through the grades and make their 1XI debut, an exciting moment for any young player.

2XI

Is similarly a side who play hard and fair, although perhaps just a little more laid back than the 1XI. This team has experienced some great success in recent seasons, with back to back premierships in the 2019/20 & 2020/21 seasons. We look forward to this team pushing for the 3 peat this year.

3XI

Is a development team, with many players emerging from U18s and pushing into the longer form of 40 over 1 day / 80 over 2 day cricket. This team has a lot of fun with younger players very much learning and developing their craft.

4XI

Is a team with many of the players a little long in the tooth and sometimes slower running between the wickets. This team loves recalling their performances at the end of the day – sometimes the memories are a little inflated!

5XI

Is a mix of Father Son Side and players returning to cricket, with many of our younger U16 players experiencing their first taste of senior cricket. Lots of fun is had, and everyone is given a good go at their chosen craft! We love to see our Junior Dad’s breaking out the old willow and joining their son on the field.
